The Driller Assistant position supports the drilling crew in the drilling and sampling operations. This is an entry level position designed to train the individual in the various aspects of becoming a driller. You will act as an assistant to help the driller more easily perform drilling tasks. The Driller Assistant will move, set up and operate drilling rigs and related equipment to drill holes. Work is indoors the work is generally physically demanding. This position requires travel to Five boroughs of New York City.

Job Requirements

  • 3-5 years’ experience in the drilling industry
  • Knowledge of operating portable electric drill rigs and other drilling equipment 
  • Driller license required in applicable state(s)
  • Ability to lift 50+ pounds throughout work day
  • HAZWOPER OSHA certified a must
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time
  • Ability to maneuver in small areas
  • Assures safety training is current and logged
  • Maintains daily drilling reports
  • Checks and maintains equipment in good and safe repair
  • Performs preventative maintenance tasks as assigned by supervisors and prepares documentation
  • Performs miscellaneous maintenance on rigs as needed
  • Complete well logs, logbook, repair orders, DVIR inspection sheet and tailgates
  • Maintain positive relationship with client
  • Manage the work site activity
  • Maintain all certifications
  • Pass Company background check and drug screening
  • ***Knowledge of installing wells a plus requirement***
  • Verify positions and depth of boring locations before drilling to determine if it is safe to move forward with the process
  • Check gauges monitor drilling condition and pay close attention to equipment to decide if it needs to be altered or adjusted during drilling
  • Knowledge of soil or rock conditions
  • Stop, start and control machine drilling speed and align as well as position drills to stabilize machines.
  • Regulate downward pressure, rotary speed, depending on the type of material the drill is moving through, changing procedures and settings for each individual job as needed
  • Bore or drill holes in rock for routing, anchoring, blasting or building foundations, working with other members of the crew to ensure accuracy and safety
  • Follow all protocol and standard operating procedures to guarantee safety and compliance on the job site and keep team members safe from injury
  • Position and assemble casing pipes, augers, machines and other equipment with the appropriate hand and power tools.

Drillers Assistant

JOB DESCRIPTION

  •  Assist Driller with operation of drill rig, and support equipment effectively.
  •  Assist in loading and unloading equipment.
  •  Follow all safety regulations.
  •  Keep equipment and location clean and orderly.
  •  Understand, select and work with hand tools.
  •  Perform assigned equipment maintenance.
  •  Perform material inventory as assigned.
  •  Knowledge of taking apart spoons for samples and present to field engineer.

 SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
  • Ability to learn and move up.
  • Must be punctual and dependable.
